Following the thrilling finish at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, the NASCAR world has been buzzing about winner Joey Logano and the validity of him bumping Martin Truex Jr. out of the way for the lead.
On the final lap of the 500-lap event – the first of three Cup Series playoff races in the Round of 8 – Truex had taken over for the lead on the .526-mile short track, and likely Logano’s only shot at winning was to hit Truex’s bumper and literally move him out of the way. That’s exactly what he did, and Logano is now the first of the final four drivers locked in to the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November.
