Claudio Bravo suffers ruptured Achilles injury and set for lengthy spell on sidelines for Manchester City

Chile's shot-stopper, second choice at City after Ederson, underwent scans on Monday afternoon after suffering the injury in training.

Bravo, 35, has been sent out to Barcelona for further tests on Thursday with fears he could be out for the season.

A statement on City's Twitter account said: "[Bravo] underwent scans this afternoon which have confirmed a rupture in the tendon of his left foot."

Pep Guardiola promoted 20-year-old Daniel Grimshaw to the first-team as the third-choice option between the posts.

And the youngster may be in the limelight even sooner than anticipated.

Grimshaw, a lifelong City fan, was brought into the first-team training last season.

He then signed a three-year deal in June after impressing Guardiola and his coaching staff.

Grimshaw told the club's official website: "To be at the club at this exciting time is pretty incredible and to be able to learn and train from goalkeepers like Ederson and Claudio Bravo made this an easy decision for me.”
