Chris Hemsworth is pitching in to help fight against the wildfires in his home country of Australia.
Despite milder temperatures and desperately needed rain bringing hope of a respite from the fires that have ravaged three Australian states, many blazes continued to burn out of control, threatening to wipe out rural townships and causing almost incalculable damage to property and wildlife.
As of Tuesday, the wildfires have claimed 25 lives and have destroyed almost 2,000 homes.
In an effort to help, Hemsworth took to Instagram late Monday to announce that he and his family are donating $1 million to help fight against the destruction.
“Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated,” he captioned a video of himself encouraging his followers to donate as well.

Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated. In my bio I’ve added links to support the fire fighters, organisations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time. Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya.

The actor, 36, also provided links in his bio to organizations and charities “who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time.”
Hemsworth isn’t the only celebrity to use social media and his star status to rally support.
Hugh Jackman also took to social media to share resources on how to help out to his 28.7 million followers.
“How can you help? Tap on the image for just a few of the organizations who are working tirelessly to fight the bushfires … to save lives, wildlife and property,” he captioned a post Sunday.

Earlier, more Australian and non-Australian stars alike took to social media to pledge money and encourage others to do the same.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced their family would donate $500,000 to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, the volunteer fire department for the Australian state with some of the largest fire breakouts.
Singer Pink also pledged $500,000 to local fire departments.
