The Croatian midfielder has been in great form since joining the Blues from Real Madrid on a season-long loan move in August.
Kovacic is battling Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a place in Maurizio Sarri’s three-man midfield.
And he has so far held his own with eight Premier League appearances under his belt.
Kovacic has helped Chelsea go ten games unbeaten in the league, while also starring in the midweek Europa League win over BATE Borisov.
Blues fans are keen for the club to sign him on a permanent basis, but it’s understood there is no transfer fee clause in his Stamford Bridge loan agreement.

PLAYER RATINGS
It means Chelsea will have to negotiate with Real from scratch if they want to bring Kovacic back to West London.
But the player himself is currently reluctant to say where his future lies, telling the Standard: “It’s too early for these questions. I am here and very happy.
“[Playing regularly] is good. I’m a little bit tired. I was not used to playing every three or four games and here it is very tough football.
“You can’t relax against anybody so it’s a little bit difficult but I really enjoy it. We have a great team, great fans and the city is nice. I like it a lot here.”
