Burnley sign Crouch for his 'hunger' and announce transfer with brilliant robot video

Crouch moved to Turf Moor as part of the £9million deal that saw Wales striker Sam Vokes move to Stoke.

And in hilarious style, Burnley uploaded a photo of a robot marching into the club's training ground to announce the signing of the lanky frontman.

The clip finishes with Crouch, who has previously adopted the 'robot dance' when he scores, kicking a ball at the toy and knocking it over.

Clarets boss Dyche, already operating with a fairly small squad, did not want to find himself a man down, and said he had no hesitation in signing the former England striker.

He explained: "I've never been too bothered about people's age.

"We had Michael Duff here and he proved a fantastic servant to this club in the Premier League at 37, so that's not an issue.

“I've known Crouchy down the years, seen him play, always admired that he knows what he is.

"He's never bothered with other people's opinions, just getting on with the game, and that's important.

"I don't factor age in when people are as motivated as guys like Michael Duff and big Crouchy.

"I know about his fitness, about his distances covered, and I think there's an intent and desire there.

"Over time he will come to a decision, when that's due, but at this moment in time he still has the hunger to come in and make a mark.

"He brings experience, of course. We know what a good character he is, so that's important – we want people who fit into the group. I think he still has that edge. He wants to still play and be effective.

"We know he has a very good touch, understands the game. He's never had to rely on pace because of his awareness, and the main thing is having motivated people.”

Dyche admitted he was reluctant to sell Vokes, even though he has not started a Premier League match since Boxing Day.

But it was impossible to resist Stoke’s offer for a player who will be 30 in October.

Dyche added: "It was really difficult. Sam's proved what a good player he's been for us, but he hasn't played as regularly as of late.

"He got a bit frustrated with that – as players do – and this was an opportunity for him that becomes a win-win in the end."
