The Swedish brawler's left eye expanded to the size of a cricket ball during his World Boxing Super Series defeat on Saturday.
Yigit took a pummelling from Ivan Baranchyk in their super-lightweight championship contest in New Orleans, US.
His grotesque swelling was apparent to everyone apart from his own corner, who somehow failed to throw in the towel.
It reached gigantic proportions by the end of the fifth but Yigit, whose vision was completely blocked by the growth, kept going until the seventh.
Only then did the fight doctor decide to end the contest – a decision the 27-year-old fiercely protested.
Baranchyk, who could face Scotland's Josh Taylor in the semi-final, hailed Yigit as a "tough guy" after the fight.
While that is not in doubt, Yigit saw it fit to praise the doctor who saved him from a potentially devastating injury as the real hero.
Alongside an image of his swollen eye, Yigit tweeted: "Don't know what to think about this picture being the reason I'm famous on the internets but than you all for commenting Quasimodo pictures.
"Nothing is damaged around or in the eye.
"It's just grotesquely swollen. Also, doctor stopping the fight did his job and he did it well."
This was Yigit's first professional defeat.
