With any luck, the fun and games can continue on Thursday and I've picked out some banking belters to bash the bookies.
Market Rasen
1.25 Jersey Bean – Has turned a corner in a big way since being upped to three miles and he bounded away from a top field at Newbury last time. This race looks as easy as pie compared to that, though he'll have to suckerpunch a nasty 9lb rise. Only a five-year-old, there's sure to be more to come and Oliver Sherwood loves training a dour stayer. He has fitness on his side and can pounce for the fourth time on the trot.
Wincanton
3.20 Clondaw Rigger – Katy Price hasn't yet attracted the attention of the bigger owners but she does very well with the few horses she has. One of those is Clondaw Rigger, who looks an improved performer this year based on his win at Chepstow last time off 95. A 7lb rise is fair and this test of his staying powers will be just up his street. His jumping is a real asset which will help around this stiff track and everything's in place for another big run.
Bully's Thursday Bankers
1.25 Market Rasen – Jersey Bean
3.20 Wincanton – Clondaw Rigger
1.55 Newcastle – Coral Queen
6.00 Wolverhampton – Panmolle
Newcastle
1.55 Coral Queen – Course form is massively important at Newcastle and Ray Craggs' contender has that in spades. Two seconds in the autumn at the track were hors d'oeuvres for an emphatic course-and-distance win last time out and she looks nicely handicapped off just a 4lb higher mark. Most of these are out form but she stands out and can grace the winners' circle once again.
Wolverhampton
6.00 Panmolle – John Gosden's filly has outstanding claims here following a sensational debut second behind a smart one, who afterwards went on to score in handicap company. She was sent off favourite that day so is clearly highly regarded and can take this on the way to better things. Godolphin make things interesting by also fielding a nice prospect – but I'd be surprised if she were good enough to take my selection down.
