Aubameyang goal given by VAR after one of THE worst offside decisions ever as Arsenal draw level with Man Utd – The Sun

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG equalised for Arsenal after one of THE worst offside decisions was overturned.

Man Utd lost the ball on the edge of the box with it falling to youngster Bukayo Saka.

The 18-year-old played a perfect pass straight into the path of the Gunners hitman, for him to race through on goal and chip over David De Gea and make it 1-1.

Harry Maguire, stood directly in front of the assistant referee, had played Auba well onside – with replays showing Aubameyang around three or four yards to the good.

But to Auba's surprise, the linesman instantly raised his flag.

Maguire had leapt forward and Aubameyang's pace had put him quickly on goal.

But that is no excuse for just how bad the decision actually was.

Despite a mountain of criticism this season – especially regarding marginal offside decisions – the Video Assistant Referee checked this goal.

It didn't take long for VAR to overturn the error and draw Arsenal level.

Arsenal and Chelsea legend Cesc Fabregas was one man to weigh in on the decision, questioning how the lino got that decision so wrong.

The World Cup winner wrote on Twitter: "How can he see an offside right in front of his eyes without anyone in front of him."

Former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen added: "That's why we have VAR. Imagine if that had been given offside.
