Arsenal players are not responding to new boss Unai Emery's methods says Martin Keown

The Gunners’ 3-2 defeat to Chelsea yesterday means they have lost their opening two Premier League games — their worst start since 1992.

Spaniard Emery has vowed not to change his passing style, having taken over from Arsene Wenger this summer.

But Arsenal legend Keown is worried the players are not listening.

He said: “It’s about giving the message to the players and them reacting.

“In these results he has not been able to do that. They are not taking on board the messages he is giving them.

“It’s going to be a difficult week for him. I expect them to beat West Ham next week but they need to improve.

“How many games did Arsene Wenger manage? It’s 1,000-plus games and it’s a philosophy that you cannot change overnight.

“I find it disappointing they haven’t improved further. They don’t look right and need to radically change the system and look.”
Chelsea raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Pedro and Alvaro Morata.

Arsenal drew level before half-time via Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi but lost to Marcos Alonso’s late strike.
Despite the defeat, Emery is not concerned.

He said: “I’m calm. We need to give that calm to the players and continue working.

“I know we need to improve things. It’s clear we are a big difference for them. But today the team competed well and had chances.”

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri enjoyed a winning start in his first game at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian said: “It was stressful but in the end it was a wonderful game and match.

“The three points  came very hard for us but we did well. I don’t know why it changed at the end of the first half.

“We lost the distances between players because in that 15 minutes we were unable to cover the lost balls to press at the right time.”

Mauricio Pochettino warned any unsettled TOTTENHAM stars they can leave.

Spurs beat Fulham 3-1 at Wembley thanks to goals from Lucas Moura, Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane.

Toby Alderweireld is being linked with a move away but Poch said: “Players that are not happy from my point of view, everyone can leave.

“I want full commitment with the team and to fight with the team.

“I am open to listening to players if they want to leave but if they are going to be here I want commitment.

“If not, we can find a solution. I understand if someone is not playing they are disappointed but the rules of football — you created the rules — is only having 11 players.

“If you’re not happy, we have the opportunity to fix it.

“Players that are not playing need to wait.

“You are not going to put pressure on me.”

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic said: “In the important moments Spurs showed great quality.

“After scoring a quality second goal, they scored a quality third goal.

“We started the second half well and scored but, to be honest, they changed shape to a diamond and we did not have enough power to stop them.

“My team showed great effort and pushed hard but it is not easy for a new Premier League team. This must encourage us though.”

Richarlison was hailed for his hard work as he made it three goals in two games for new club EVERTON.

The £40million Brazilian followed up his double against Wolves with the Toffees’ second in the 2-1 win over Southampton after Theo Walcott broke the deadlock.

Team-mate Seamus Coleman said: “Richarlison has been brilliant. What’s caught my eye as well as all the attacking stuff he does is the way he digs in for the team.

“He’s a real team player, not a selfish player by any means and we’re really lucky to have him.

“We’re enjoying having him in the team.”
