Arsenal eyeing Lille wide-man — but face competition from home and abroad

Arsenal are among the clubs keeping tabs on Lille’s exciting wide-man Nicolas Pepe.

The £30million-rated Ivory Coast international is earning rave reviews in France and has scored five goals in just eight games already this season.

Everton have scouted the attacker and watched him a fortnight ago when he scored a hat-trick against Amiens.

Spanish sides Barcelona and Sevilla are also the tracking the 23-year-old, who finished last term with 13 goals in 36 league appearances.

Lille’s Ligue 1 rivals Lyon had a bid of £26m rejected at the end of summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Arsenal youngster Matteo Guendouzi is in contention for a first call-up to the senior France squad.

The young midfielder moved to the Emirates in the summer, joining from Ligue 2 side Lorient in an £8million deal.

The 19-year-old started the Gunners’ first five Premier League matches this term and was voted the club’s player of the month in August.
