Arsenal ‘contact’ former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique to replace Unai Emery – The Sun

ARSENAL have reportedly contacted former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique to replace under-pressure Unai Emery.

The Gunners have dropped to sixth in the Premier League after yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Leicester City, eight points off the top four.

That made it five games without a win in all competitions as fans continue to call for the Spaniard’s head.

Now reports in Spanish media outlet El Confidencial claim Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi is already sounding out potential candidates to take over.

And they report that he has been in touch in Enrique, who has been out of work since leaving his role as national boss for personal reasons in June just months before his nine-year-old daughter died from bone cancer.

He led Barcelona to consecutive La Liga titles during his three years in charge and lifted the 2015 Champions League.

Meanwhile, Emery has called for Arsenal supporters to remain patient despite their miserable run of form.

He said: “For me, as a coach, it's about continuing stronger and improving with our players.

“I am speaking with the club to stay calm and to stay patient to improve and recover some confidence with some circumstances.

“I accept all (of the criticism). I accept the applause and I accept it when they criticise us. I know when we win, they are going to be happy and when we lose, they are going to be sad. It's normal.

“We need to stay calm and also keep improving things.

“Today we got one step ahead by being together and being strong defensively. But we lost because we were playing a very strong team in a good moment.”Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang caught on camera after crashing £270,000 Lamborghini supercar
