Arsenal boss Emery eyes £13m Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan as cheap Aaron Ramsey replacement

ARSENAL are lining up a summer swoop for Eibar ace Joan Jordan as a tailor-made replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

Unai Emery is on the lookout for a central midfielder with the Welsh maestro set to link up with Juventus at the end of the season on a free transfer.

And with reports that the Gunners will only have a transfer budget of £40million should they fail to qualify for the Champions League, Jordan fits the bill as a cheap option.

The 24-year-old – who is tied down at the La Liga side until 2020 – has a release clause of just £12.8m.

According to Marca, Arsenal have been closely monitoring the player – who has chipped in with three goals and four assists in 29 games this campaign.

They claim that Eibar are willing to cash in on the Catalonia international to avoid losing him on a pre-contract in January.

While they also state that Jose Luis Mendilibar's club will sit down with Arsenal to hold talks over his possible departure.

It is expected to be a busy summer at the Emirates – with a number of players set to be offloaded to make room for new recruits.

Mohamed Elneny has been linked with a move to Besiktas, while Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could also be sold to free up the wage bill.

Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella and Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney are being tracked by the North Londoners, as well as Paris Saint-Germain winger Christopher Nkunku.

While Arsenal are also reportedly keen on centre-back Samuel Umtiti should Barcelona deem him as surplus to requirements.

And it is understood that the club are winning the race to land Brazilian starlet Gabriel Martinelli ahead of London rivals Crystal Palace.

Arsenal are preparing to face Newcastle on Monday, where a win could see them leapfrog Tottenham into third should Spurs slip up against Liverpool.
