The Red Devils could have made the 259 mile trip by coach in less than five hours but instead opted to board a private jet for their clash on Sunday.
One high-profile name missing from the travelling squad was Chile international Alexis Sanchez.
The forward played 90 minutes in the club's opening 2-1 victory over Leicester and trained throughout the week but was mysteriously left out of the 20-man squad who boarded the plane.
Mourinho failed to mention a problem with Sanchez in his pre-match press conference but will be boosted with the return of Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera.
Lingard is back in contention to start following his extended break from the World Cup while Herrera sat out of the victory over the Foxes.
Stand-in captain Paul Pogba wore personalised trainers as he stepped on board hoping to make it two wins from two.
Jose Mourinho will look towards the Frenchman to make the difference after the manager revealed he's "never been so happy" with maverick Pogba.
The pair have endured a fractious relationship over the summer with transfer interest from Barcelona igniting the flames.
When quizzed over their sensational fall-out, Mourinho said: "The truth is we are together for two years and a couple of weeks, and I’ve never been so happy with him as I am now.
"That’s the truth. I cannot demand more from him, I cannot ask more from him."
Both Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia have been ruled out of the contest.
Brighton head into the contest on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Watford.
