ALCS: Wind could wreak home run havoc on Yankees-Astros Game 4

Fly balls were dying on the warning track Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

They may have some help Thursday.

Hours before first pitch of Game 4 of the ALCS, the wind was whipping in The Bronx with gusts blowing out to the outfield. With no music playing pregame, the only sounds audible were flags whipping high above the upper deck.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory — for winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph — though it was only in effect until 6 p.m. Winds are expected to remain blowing between 16-17 mph throughout the game.

In Game 3 on Tuesday, Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius and Astros catcher Martin Maldonado both hit deep fly balls that looked like home runs off the bat, only for them to find gloves in front of the wall.
