The ex-Sunderland winger, 31, is expected out on March 22 — but has been told he has no chance of reigniting his romance with Stacey Flounders.
He will have served half his six-year sentence for sexual activity with a minor and child grooming.
Those close to his ex Stacey say any contact will be for the sake of their four-year-old girl, despite previous hopes of reconciling.
Last week pictures emerged of the £2million home Johnson has bought for his release, with seven bedrooms, swimming pool and bowling alley.
A source said: “Everything is in place for Adam’s release now. He’s got his house sorted out to come back to which his sister is living in at the moment.
“He knows high-level football is off the table because of his conviction, so he’s trying to work out what to do.
“But it is not going to involve getting back with Stacey. She wants to keep things civilised and she believes their daughter should have both parents in her life, but isn’t looking to rebuild their relationship.”
Adam and Stacey shared a £1.8million home in Co Durham before his conviction in March 2016.
The star, who kissed and groomed a 15-year-old girl, is understood to be eyeing a deal abroad, but would fly back weekly to see a probation officer.
In footage obtained by The Sun in 2017, he said: “You can’t get a second chance in England man.”
