ARSENE WENGER confirmed he is not a candidate for the Bayern Munich job but is open to a return to management.
The legendary ex-Arsenal boss confirmed the German giants made an approach but made certain to clarify he is not a candidate for the job.
Wenger had been linked with the role all last week after Niko Kovac was sacked.
But he told BeIN presenter Richard Keys – who resigned from Sky in 2011 amid a sexism storm: “First of all I was never a candidate.
“I had been approached but I am not in the running for the job.
“I am not a candidate for the job.
“That is clear and definite.”
Pressed on whether he was done with management completely, Wenger was equally clear.
He said: “No, not necessarily but at the moment.”

ARSENAL have reportedly contacted former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique to replace under-pressure Unai Emery.
The Gunners have dropped to sixth in the Premier League after yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Leicester City, eight points off the top four.
That made it five games without a win in all competitions as fans continue to call for the Spaniard’s head.
Now reports in Spanish media outlet El Confidencial claim Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi is already sounding out potential candidates to take over.
And they report that he has been in touch in Enrique, who has been out of work since leaving his role as national boss for personal reasons in June just months before his nine-year-old daughter died from bone cancer.
He led Barcelona to consecutive La Liga titles during his three years in charge and lifted the 2015 Champions League.

TONY ADAMS has taken a huge swipe at former club Arsenal – but admitted he believes Unai Emery is NOT the problem at the crisis-hit club.
The Gunners hit a new low as their dreadful season rolled on as they were thoroughly outplayed en route to losing 2-0 against Leicester on Saturday night in what is now their worst start to a season in 37 years.
Emery has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks but club legend Adams believes he's doing the best he can with a sub-par squad and appalling recruitment – disagreeing with former team-mate Ian Wright.
Adams claimed: “It's easy to blame the manager in these situations, although I don't think he's done himself a lot of favours with things like the handling of the captaincy situation, for example.
“Against Leicester, he got them organised. They did the best they could.
“It's one thing getting back, getting defensive and getting your shape, but then you've got to go and press, and Arsenal didn't do that.
“You've got to go and make contact with the players, but they just sat back. 85 per cent of goals come inside the box and they sat so deep they were sitting with me in the stand.
“There are not [any leaders in the squad]. The recruitment has been very poor for a few years now. It's difficult if you haven't got the players.
“The manager must be pulling his hair out because what do you do? We came here expecting a good hiding and we got one. That's not the mentality to have.
“I don't think those players go onto the pitch thinking we are going to keep a clean sheet and that's infectious.
“Defensively we've got worse. Koscielny has gone and David Luiz hasn't helped us.
“It's easy to blame Emery. He's got a group of players here that he's doing his best with and it's a bigger problem than this coach, it really is.”

LEICESTER fans taunted Unai Emery with chants of “you're getting sacked in the ebening” – then Arsenal supporters joined in.
The Foxes faithful laid into the under-fire Gunners boss as they saw their side seal a comprehensive 2-0 win at the King Power.
As the rain poured down in the East Midlands, Emery's mood would no doubt have been totally sodden as he saw his players struggle to cope with Brendan Rodgers' men.
The humorous jibe was made in reference to the Arsenal boss' determination to start every interview with a polite “good ebening” – with the Spaniard pronunciation of the letter “v” as a “b”.
And sure enough, as Emery spoke to Sky Sports after the full-time whistle, he began with his customary greeting.
It unsurprisingly left viewers watching on at home in hysterics as Emery tried to explain why his side failed to perform once again.
