  • EX-ARSENAL striker Emmanuel Adebayor is poised to plough on with his career … by joining Iranian club Tractor SC.

The ex-Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker is a free agent after leaving Turkish club Basaksehir in June.

Adebayor has now been reportedly offered a two-year contract by Persian giants Tractor.

Based in Tabriz, near Iran's border with Turkey, the club wants the 35-year-old to replace departed former Celtic and Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes.

  • DC UNITED have reportedly held talks with Mesut Ozil's agent over an MLS switch.

The capital club need a marquee player to replace Derby-bound Wayne Rooney for next season.

And Ozil, 30, is on their radar, with his representative Ergut Sogut in DC discussing a move, according to the Washington Post.

He reportedly met DC United executives Jason Levien and Sam Porter for a tour of their Audi Field home and proposed new training facility.

Ozil and team-mate Sead Kolasanic have returned to training after being excused by the Gunners over “security fears”.

  • TOTTENHAM star Moussa Sissoko named Arsenal Invincible Patrick Viera as his all-time sporting hero.

He told TalkSport: “I don’t want to have any problems if I say his name, but it was Vieira!

“We play in the same position, he is tall like me, playing in the France national team like I am now.

“So I was following him and tried to be like him when I was younger.”

  • FORMER ARSENAL star Serge Gnabry is thankful for the time he spent with the Gunners, despite his lack of game time at the Emirates.

The 24-year-old struggled to make an impact in English football, which included an ill-fated spell at West Brom, but has since found his feet at Bayern Munich.

He told DAZN: “Joining Arsenal may have been an extraordinary step for some, but not for me.”

“If a club like Arsenal makes you an offer and says it wants you in the club – with a coach like Arsene Wenger, who was known to give young players a chance – that's a great opportunity.

“I really wanted to take this opportunity. My time in England has shaped me, with all its ups and downs. I would do the same again.”

  • GRANIT XHAKA almost joined Stoke City on loan before eventually landing a lucrative gig at Arsenal.

Max Eberl, director of sport at Xhaka’s former club Borussia Monchengladbach, claims the Swiss midfielder was close to a Potters loan move after a disastrous start to life at the German club.

Xhaka, 26, struggled to adapt to the pace and power of the Bundesliga during his first 18 months at Gladbach.

And he was ready to call it quits in the 2014 winter window after agreeing to join Stoke on loan.

However, Eberl claims he talked Xhaka out of linking up with Mark Hughes, warning the midfielder that he would never secure a move to a big club should he go to the bet365 Stadium.

Xhaka decided to stay in Germany and enjoyed a much more productive two-and-a-half years, eventually securing a £35million switch to Arsenal in the summer of 2016.

He is now Unai Emery’s captain at the Emirates, as well as skipper of the Switzerland national team.
