  • UNITED WE STAND

Old Trafford's safe standing would be in the East Stand corner of the historic ground, or in the old 'Clock End'.

United are looking at becoming the first English club to install safe standing rails at the Theatre of Dreams.

While it might seem logical to so in the Stretford End, after creating a singing section at the 76,000-seater ground, this is where the safe standing section would be.

Up to 1,500 fans could be the first to benefit from safe standing and United have been one of the major supporters of a move from all-seating after listing to fans.

  • POCHETT DIAL

Mauricio Pochettino was spotted alongside Manchester United's new PR advisor Neil Ashton at Brentford's draw with Leeds last night.

The Argentine, who has been out-of-work since he was axed by Tottenham in November, has been heavily linked with replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

And the pictures of the pair together, as well as footage during the live Sky Sports coverage, sparked wild speculation on social media.

SunSport understands Ashton was at the game as a guest of Brentford and was not there in a professional capacity.

Ashton was appointed by United's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward as a consultant last month.

  • MADD DASH

Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the hunt for James Maddison as they search for Mesut Ozil's replacement, according to reports.

The Leicester playmaker, 23, has been a United target for months but they could now face competition from the Gunners.

As SunSport exclusively revealed last week, Mikel Arteta is planning a major overhaul at Arsenal to kick-start his stalled Emirates revolution.

Six senior players, including top earners Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, are out of contract in less than 18 months’ time.

  • RED POCH?

Mauricio Pochettino has put Manchester United on red alert after admitting that he would “love” to return to the Premier League.

And the 47-year-old's comments have already left the Red Devils fanbase excited after believing he was born to be the boss at Old Trafford.

He told the In The Pink podcast: “To be honest, I would love to work in the Premier League.

“It's going to be difficult, I know, and for now it's a moment to wait and we'll see what happens.”

  • AQUAMAN

Paul Pogba says he is determined to get back on the pitch soon.

The Manchester United midfielder posted pictures of himself aquajogging and in the gym as he steps up hope of a comeback from ankle surgery.
