It seems that Hinge isn't a big fan of Bobby Seagull.

The quiz legend revealed on Twitter that he was recently booted off the popular dating app after concerns that his account may be fake.

The 36-year-old math whizz shot to fame in 2017 on the University Challenge, a popular trivia quiz show where universities compete against each other.

The author of the book "The Life-Changing Magic of Numbers" revealed this on Twitter, saying that he did not know whether to laugh or cry at this incident.

He wrote to followers: "Not sure whether to laugh, cry or just shrug my shoulders.

He added: "On dating apps, I've had a few people message recently saying I'm a catfish. Now I've been booted off."

He accompanied the post with a laughing emoji and tagged in Hinge – the dating app, which claims to specialise in long-term connections and is "designed to be deleted," according to its website.

Bobby then added: "I'm destined to become an old bachelor with a bunch of Casio calculators, protractors and maths problems."

One Twitter user jokingly replied: "So, what you’re saying is that you’ve become unhinged?"

A second commented: "I can’t believe you haven’t been snapped up already! You are young, good looking, brainy and have a great sense of humour. You will find love, just let it happen. There’s no rush!"

And a third wrote: "Jeez that was a lucky escape …. Hinge has done you a huge favour! You're great and will find someone when you are least expecting to! Just continue being you!"
