Researchers from the University of Otago have been testing water samples at the Loch for over a year, in the hopes of finding DNA from the monster.
Sadly, their findings indicate that there is ‘no evidence’ the beast exists.
In the study, the researchers collected water samples from three different depths of the Loch, and analysed fur, feathers, skin, scales and even faeces.
Speaking at a press conference today, Professor Neil Gemmell, who led the study, said: “There are 500 million different sequences that they have discovered.
“They’ve compared them to a whole lot of other living things."
Instead, the researchers suggest that sightings of the beast may have simply been of other animals, such as eels.
