Hilarious footage shows pet pig ‘Mr BaconBits’ leading cop chase after escape

A hilarious video has captured the bizarre moment a potbellied pet pig dubbed Mr BaconBits was being chased around by police officers and neighbours

The footage, which was taken from a police officer's bodycam, shows cops responding to a call about a “daggum pig” that was running through the neighbourhood on Thursday (July 6).

Officers burst onto the scene as a neighbour struggled to capture the porker and tried to assist.

A woman was heard yelling: "I don’t know whose pig it is. I’ve just been trying to keep it from getting hit [by cars]."

The police attempted to get a collar around the snorting animal but it started running away.

Cops and civilians ran after it but some of them ended up tumbling to the ground in the hysterical clip, which has been shared on Facebook, set to a comical piano tune.

In the caption of the video, which has gained more than 3,400 likes, Louisville Metro Police Department quipped: "Just a couple of pigs chasing a pig!"

"Oink! Oink! A few days ago, 6th Division Officers received a call in reference to a daggum pig running around a neighbourhood," they added.

"Ok, now we've seen it all. Imagine our surprise when we get on the scene and that potbelly bad boy is running free as a bird!

"We tried using a hobble as a leash but our new friend wasn't having it. Neighbours even pitched in to help us with the chase!

"Everyone fell down, everyone laughed… ahh, good times.

"Eventually, the oinker made his way to a backyard where we were able to put a dog pole on him.

"The owners brought a large dog crate and we loaded Mr. BaconBits up and sent him home. "

Six cops were later seen in a photo with Mr BaconBits after he was loaded into a large dog crate and was taken home.
