Great Sphinx’s twin from ancient Egypt ‘could be hiding under sand mounds on Giza plateau’

The Sphinx and surrounding pyramids in Cairo have been shrouded in mystery ever since their creating thousands of years ago.

Historians often debate how ancient Egyptians built such complex structures while some believe there may be hidden chambers beneath the Sphinx.

But another conspiracy maintains there may be a second Sphinx hidden underneath the sand.

In a YouTube clip of the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens – which was uploaded last week – the theory is explored.

Publisher Georgio Tsoukalos said: “There were long periods of time where the Sphinx was not seen, it was completely covered in sand.

“And so the idea would imply that maybe there are other structures that are still underneath the sand.

“Is it possible that a second sphinx exists on the Giza Plateau?”

According to the Amduat – the ancient Egyptian funerary text describing the hourly journey of the King in the afterlife – there is said to exist a second Sphinx that faces to the west.

Theorists believe the second Sphinx is key in reconnecting humans with their so-called Alien ancestors.

Author Robert Bauval – pointing out the images on the Amduat – said: “The fifth hour which seems to represent the Giza Necropolis, by the way, is protected by one Sphinx which is the existing Sphinx but also show another Sphinx in the back.

“Now physically was there another one? That is quite possible.

“There are certain mounds that haven’t been properly excavated on the west side and there may be remains of a Sphinx.”

He later added: “There certainly isn’t a whole Sphinx, we would have seen it by now, but there may be the foundations of a Sphinx.”

Only yesterday it was revealed that the shafts inside the Great Pyramid of Giza “could explain the purpose of the ancient Egypt structure”, an author suggested.
