Furious Apple TV customers have threatened to cancel their subscriptions, following the news that Apple is increasing prices by up to 40 per cent.

The change will bringing the monthly cost from £6.99 to £8.99 in the UK, and from $6.99 to $9.99 in the US.

Some customers say they are willing to pay for Apple TV+’s new higher price to continue watching popular shows such as Ted Lasso, and The Morning Show.

However, many have criticised the changes, with some arguing that Apple doesn’t have enough high-quality content to justify paying more.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one angry customer wrote: ‘Apple TV+ was PERFECTLY priced for a service with a decent assortment of worthwhile originals and ZERO library. It’s not worth $9.99.’

Launched in 2019, Apple TV+ has produced a number of original shows but has not had decades to build up a catalogue like Netflix or access to historic libraries like Disney+.

‘I like a few Apple TV shows, but they do not have the content to justify this’, one user one.

Another added: ‘I’ve used two three month free promotions for Apple TV this year. I’ve rarely found anything worth watching.’

And one commenter said: ‘Will be cancelling.

‘The few shows on there worth watching are fantastic, but once you’ve finished, why stick around?’

Frustration with the service’s price hikes has led many commenters to threaten cancelling their subscriptions.

Some commenters on X (formerly Twitter) say that they will now cancel because there isn’t a big enough volume of shows to keep them paying for the service

‘Time to cancel’, one user tweeted,  while another added that Apple TV is: ‘Going the right way for a cancellin.’

Another simply wrote: ‘Bye @Apple’.

Some commenters, however, maintain that $9.99 (£8.99 in the UK) is an acceptable price for Apple TV+, especially when compared to the prices of rival services.

‘That’s a fair price, honestly’, one tweeted.

Another added: ‘They need to acquire more properties to provide a larger library, but their original content is top tier and some of the best out of any other streamers (I’d probably put HBO/Max above AppleTV+.)

‘I think $10 a month is still worth it considering Netflix is $24 now.’
