An Amazon delivery driver was attacked by a “highly venomous” snake while delivering a parcel.
The worker had just dropped off the Amazon purchase at an address in Palm City, Florida, US. As he turned to leave, the serpent pounced.
The unnamed man was bitten by an eastern diamondback rattlesnake. The creature had curled up near the front door of the property.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office confirmed the man was bitten on the back of the leg – just below the knee. He immediately fell ill, as reported by FOX News.
"The driver walked to the door, put the package down and was struck by the snake in the back of the leg, just above the knee," the force said in a statement on Facebook. Adding the man called emergency services for help.
Dispatchers located the victim’s whereabouts through his mobile phone coordinates. He was taken to hospital, and he is believed to be in a “very serious condition”.
Eastern diamondbacks are common in the area – the largest rattlesnake. They can grow to about seven feet in length.

Their bites can be fatal in approximately 10 to 20% of cases if they are not treated quickly. The highly venomous eastern diamondbacks are very common in the area, the sheriff's office said.
It comes after police were left "rattled" following a horrifying encounter with a 12ft python slithering down a UK street. Three officers were left grappling with the reptile in the Black Country, attending the scene of a sighting in the middle of the night on Tuesday in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

The force were on hand to deal with the 3.6 metre-long python, with one of the world's biggest snakes casually sat in the middle of the road. Quick-thinking actions saw the snake, which is native to Southeast Asia, bagged and taken into the back of a police van, and the beast has since been handed over to vets.
