Singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur and R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck released a trippy, lo-fi video for “The Wanderer,” a hazy rock ballad from their collaborative project Arthur Buck.
The clip follows Arthur as he plays guitar in various settings: next to a bridge, seated on a street corner, against a concrete wall – often while psychedelic effects flicker around him. Buck appears in a few moments, playing guitar in a home studio crammed with instruments.
The minor-key rock ballad appears on Arthur Buck’s self-titled debut LP, which they released in June. The album also includes the singles “Are You Electrified?” and “I Am the Moment.”
The Arthur Buck collaboration originated in late 2017, after the musicians bumped into each other during respective trips to Todos Santos, Mexico. The duo wound up pooling their material and wrote eight songs in three days; on the fourth, they played a small concert for locals near Buck’s home. “It was really spontaneous and kind of magical in its own way, as [being in Mexico] we were kind of disconnected from everything,” the R.E.M. member recently told Rolling Stone.
