Piers Morgan for Prime Minister as backers praise savage attacks on bumbling MPs

Telly motormouth Piers Morgan is being urged to go into politics like his ex-bestie Donald Trump.

The call comes following a series of interviews in which he skewered our lightweight politicians.

It's not a bad call…but would his ego fit through No10's doors?

The suggestion for him to be PM came as telly fans fumed about the coronavirus response and lack of straight talking from ministers.

It also followed a Cabinet minister dramatically terminating a Good Morning Britain interview with Piers after a brutal row over the UK’s shocking Covid death rate.

The presenter had clashed with Work and Pensions Secretary Thérèse Coffey, who switched off her camera after she blamed the public’s weight and age for our high death toll.

And fans, furious politicians never seem to give a straight answer, backed Piers to lead the country out of the crisis.

Viewer Gill Brown told the presenter: “Just finished watching you on Lorraine and omg, I wish you were our Prime Minister.

“You tell it like it is, no bumbling whatsoever.”

The gobby host was delighted with the idea.

He replied: “Thank you, Gill. ‘PM for PM’ does have a good ring to it…”

As of Monday night, the response had more than 400 likes.

And fans were quick to pile in. One tweeted: “Piers Morgan actually applies pressure. Should probably be prime minister.”

Another said: “Piers Morgan for prime minister. He is for the UK people. He shows so much passion for our country and is fair and has HUGE respect.”

After Coffey disconnected the call, Piers fumed: “She throws out two reasons why we have the worst death toll in the world, apparently – we have an ageing population – so we’re too old, and we have an obesity problem – we’re too fat.

“When I said, ‘So it’s the public’s fault, is it? We’re too fat and it’s nothing to do with the government.’ I was the one insulting?!”

Piers has suggested he’d do a better job at PM in the past.

“I would get stuff done.

Daily Star says….

Piers Morgan may be a Marmite figure.

But it’s hard to deny he’s been tireless and dogged in his pursuit of our useless politicians throughout this crisis.

The Good Morning Britain presenter has been ruthless in trying to get a straight answer out of the scoundrels.

Unsurprisingly, most of them have looked completely clueless in response.

Just look at Piers’ exchange with utterly out-of-her-depth pensions secretary Therese Coffey.

It was embarrassing to the point of hiding behind your hands.

So like him or loathe him, we need fearless interviewers like Piers. Otherwise we would be letting this irresponsible bunch of clowns off scot-free.

They would be quite happy to sit there reeling off meaningless platitudes cleverly devised by their toady advisers.

But when good broadcasters actually sink their teeth into them, we get to see how rubbish they really are.

And yes, we know you’ve got a big grin on your face reading this, Piers!
