After debuting televised performance of her new song “With You” at the 2018 American Music Awards, Mariah Carey released the music video for the song on Wednesday, October 10. The visuals was first released via Entertainment Tonight before making its way out on other streaming services.
Directed by Sarah McColgan, the black-and-white clip was filmed in various locations throughout Los Angeles. Mimi is seen enjoying a breathtaking scene from a balcony on her oceanfront property and driving a vintage car around the city in a number of curve-hugging looks.
In a truly diva fashion, she walks down Hollywood Blvd. with a fur coat in her hand and a pair of shades covering her eyes. According to ET, she drew quite a group of fans when she filmed the visuals there. It prompted police and her security team to come in for crowd control. They eventually makes it to the music video.
The clip arrives in the week of lip-syncing at AMA accusations leveled against her. “Stop lipsynching Mariah,” one Twitter user wrote, while another tweeted, “Mariah looks great but why is she lip syncing?!” One other user said, “Someone take Mariah to karaoke and teach her how to lipsync better #AMAs.”
Her team has shut down the accusations though, with a representative saying, “Wow we can’t even get through five minutes without someone trying to tear her down.”
“With You” serves as the first official single of her upcoming album, though she has previously released breakup anthem “GTFO”. Details about the forthcoming effort, including its title and release date, remain unknown. However, previous report suggested that it would feature guest appearances from Drake and Daniel Caesar.
The new album will be Mimi’s first effort in four years, following her 2014 album “Me, I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse”.
