DMX’s fiancee Desiree Lindstrom has debuted a new tribute to the rapper, following his death on April 9, 2021.
Per Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Lindstrom and DMX first began dating around 2013. She is also the mother of his youngest child, Exodus, who was born in 2016. Lindstrom celebrated DMX’s relationship with his son in an Instagram post from February 2020, writing, “Their bond and love is all I could of wanted out of my life as being a mother… thank u God for such a blessing for sending me a wonderful man that is a wonderful father to our son.”
The hip-hop legend proposed to Lindstrom in 2019 at their son’s third birthday party. “I’m in love; he did a great job!!!” she wrote at the time on Instagram, sharing a picture of the engagement ring that DMX bought her. Sadly, the rapper passed away at White Plains Hospital before they could be married. He had suffered a heart attack on April 2, 2021 which left him on life support in the ICU for days.
Desiree Lindstrom celebrated 'Dog Love' through her salute to DMX
Desiree Lindstrom chose to honor her late fiance DMX through a new tattoo, according to People. The design uses the phrase “Dog Love,” which is the name of a DMX song from 2006, above an “X” drawn in the same font as the rapper’s album covers. Tattoo artist Krystal Kills wrote about the “honor” of tattooing Lindstrom on her Instagram.
“I feel honored to be able to do this memorial but also saddened,” Kills shared. “Your light was unmatchable. @desi123love I pray you find your way through these dark times, and remember the love you had for each other will forever be untethered. I’m glad I got to witness it.”
“The world lost an icon but also a great father,” the tattoo artist continued. “Praying for your family. REST IN POWER DMX. Thanks for inspiring us, and giving Yonkers a voice. You moved the world and left your mark. The city misses you. #doglove #dmx #ripdmx #ruffryders.”
This tattoo matches DMX’s own tribute to his family: He had the word “Exodus” on his neck as a reference to his and Lindstrom’s son.
