Cardi B tore up the Grammys stage with an epic showgirl-inspired performance of her latest hit, “Money.” The nominated rapper wowed the crowd in her own right, but the unsung hero of her set was her fiercely talented pianist, Chloe Flower.
The musician had the Internet talking after she started off the performance with a dramatic solo on a rhinestone-covered piano and continued to rock out on the keys throughout the song.
Her style was also on point, as she donned a voluminous off-the-shoulder gown and an elegant ponytail at her seat. Cardi might’ve slain in her animal print jumpsuit and feathers, but Chloe Flower did not go unnoticed.
The classical pianist signed to Def Jam Records in 2011 has already worked with big names in music like Babyface, Nas, Swizz Beats, Timbaland, and Celine Dion, Entertainment Weekly reports. In fact, according to her Twitter, the Liberace Museum lent her the iconic musician’s glass piano (and she seriously shreds on it).
This also isn’t Chloe’s first time playing Cardi B’s music. Earlier this month, she treated her hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers to a jazzed-up cover of the rapper’s collab with J Balvin and Bad Bunny, “I Like It.”
Flower is also an entrepreneur in addition to being a musician. She co-founded Modern Alkeme, a daily detox, with Jules Wainstein (yes, from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York).
According to her bio, Flower is “passionate about using her music as education to bring much needed awareness to the human trafficking epidemic.” She’s been a panelist and performer for the United Nations on the Role of the Arts in Human Trafficking and received a Creative Coalition Award for Outstanding Achievement for her work in combatting human trafficking.
And, lastly, can we just appreciate her wardrobe?
If we knew pianists could look this fly, we probably never would’ve quit our childhood piano lessons.
