Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has revealed that she’s set to become a grandmother.
Kym, who has played Michelle Connor on the cobbles since 2006, confirmed to OK! magazine that her 21-year-old daughter Emilie Cunliffe is expecting her first child.
The actress revealed that she can’t wait to be a grandma, although that’s not a word she’ll be using.
“I’m looking forward to being a young grandmother. I’ve always looked forward to having grandchildren,” she said. “Although I’m not relishing being called Grandma so I’ve been researching alternative names!
“I know what it’s like to be young and pregnant – it’s scary, but Emilie will be a great mum.”
Emilie, who revealed that her mum was with her when she took her pregnancy test, added that she was afraid of how people might react to her news, saying: “I even made Mum tell my dad!”
Kym, who had her oldest child David at the age of 18, said that she’s warned her daughter about the hard work involved in bringing up a baby, but that she’s glad Emilie has a little one on the way.
“There were times when I struggled because your life changes so much when you have a child especially when you are young, but I wouldn’t change what I have now for the world,” she said.
“Me, Emilie and David are best friends and I think that’s because there isn’t a huge age gap between us.”
Emilie appeared as a contestant on The Voice UK back in 2015 but unfortunately didn’t make it past the blind auditions.
The latest edition of OK! magazine is out now.
