We’ve partnered with Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms to give you a sneak peek at the film before its release on November 2.
Snowy landscapes. Glittering castles. Ornate costumes. The sound of sleigh bells. Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms has all the hallmarks of a holiday movie. Since it hits theaters on Nov. 2, this film is an ideal way to kick off the most wonderful time of year.
Of course, the movie gets its festive feel from the ballet based on Alexandre Dumas’s story of the same name, dating way back to 1844. Prepare to see graceful moves in the new movie, too, as Misty Copeland dances a ballet solo in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Viewers who grew up attending performances of the Nutcracker will instantly feel nostalgic after seeing her dance.
The big-screen adaptation takes the plot, sets, costumes, and characters to dazzling new heights. In the film, Mackenzie Foy plays Clara, a young girl still grieving the loss of her inventor mother. Little does she know that her godfather Drosselmeyer, played by Morgan Freeman, has a surprise that’s sure to cheer her up: a golden key that unlocks a pathway to a whole other universe. It’s there that Clara discovers three realms — the Land of Flowers, the Land of Sweets, and the Land of Snowflakes — and learns the inhabitants want her help to fight a war against the rule of the dangerous Fourth Realm, Mother Ginger.
All of a sudden, Clara isn’t just a little girl anymore — she’s a heroine. She’ll have to use every ounce of her bravery, intelligence, kindness, and compassion to save the Four Realms. Clara’s adventures make for a compelling movie that both kids and adults will enjoy — the perfect choice for a family outing.
Between the dazzling sets, inspiring life lessons, gorgeous costumes, star-studded cast (Hello, Keira Knightley!), and holiday theme, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is a total crowd-pleaser. Whether you’re going to the movies with a big group of friends or your extended family, everyone will enjoy this film.
One thing’s for sure: We’ll be squeezing in a trip to the movies in between ice skating, baking cookies, and shopping for Christmas gifts. Watch the trailer to get in the holiday spirit. ‘Tis the season!
