DEAR DEIDRE: WHENEVER I want to have sex with my wife my heart starts beating fast and all I can think about is whether I will get an erection.
I have had a problem getting aroused for a long time and it is killing me.
My doctor prescribed a drug which worked for a while but it is not working now.
I’m 46 and my wife is 42. I’m always worried when I want to have sex with my wife.
She hasn’t said anything but she can’t be happy either. I am aware that men can overcome this problem.
I just want to know how they did it.

DEIDRE SAYS: All that anxiety will in itself block your sexual responses, including your erection.
Please start by sharing your worries with your wife.
It will reassure her the problem is nothing to do with you not desiring her.
