For decades, summer has meant one thing in the high fashion world — the launch of the catwalk ‘resort’ collections.
The one per cent would gather to watch models parade in Gucci beachwear and Chanel summer dresses, cherry-picking everything they needed to see them through their holidays.
Meanwhile, the rest of us browsed through endless sale racks of uninspiring cossies and kaftans.
But now, finally, we too have our own curated capsule experience.
Many of the High Street’s favourite stores have launched dedicated holiday and resort collections to see us through the summer.

LK Bennett may usually be associated with elegant occasionwear, but in its second resort collection you can expect flattering swimsuits, cool coverups including this crochet cardigan, top left, and stylish co-ords that will see you from beach to bar.
If you’re looking for that ‘luxe for less’ look, then Massimo Dutti’s first holiday collection — which saw models strutting down a catwalk on a sandy beach in true couture fashion — has you covered, with elegant pleated dresses, top right, and effortless linen tailoring.
