‘I’m going to be the best mother-in-law’: Sarah Ferguson discusses her ‘MOB’ duties ahead of Eugenie’s royal wedding – and says she will make an ‘excellent’ grandmother

With just over two months to go until Princess Euegnie and Jack Brooksbank tie the knot, mother of the bride Sarah Ferguson has given an insight into the royal wedding plans.

Appearing on The One Show on Friday, the Duchess of York revealed the advice she has given to her future son-in-law as he enters the royal family and how she will make an ‘excellent’ grandmother.

Reffering to herself as the ‘MOB’ (mother of the bride) Fergie, as she affectionately known, said that the groom had settled seamlessly into the York family.

Speaking to presenters Michael Ball and Alex Jones she said: ‘The thing about Andrew and I is that we go with our hearts we go with the family unity, we really believe in that, you can see that the York family unity it’s all about seeing the light in life. 

The Duchess of York appeared on The One Show on Friday where she discussed her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 

‘Jack is a really sort of amazing bringer of light and he brings joy. I say to Jack always just stay yourself and I’d say that to anybody what else can you do in life.’

The mother-of-two revealed that she and Jack had formed a particularly close bond thanks to his job.

Asked what sort of mother-in-law she would be Sarah said: ‘The best. 

‘The good news is that Jack works as the European manager for Casamigos tequila so I’m perfect. He’ll just hand me the tequila and say come on mother-in-law down it.’ 

While the couple are yet to tie the knot it seems that talk of starting a family have already been had with Sarah claiming the couple are ‘thrilled’ to have her as a grandmother.

Describing herself as the ‘MOB’ (mother of the bride) Sarah Ferguson revealed how she and Jack bonded over tequila describing her future son-in-law as ‘an amazing bringer of light’

Asked how she felt about becoming a grandparent she said: ‘Excellent. They are thrilled because I write children’s books and I’m a child I haven’t grown up.’

The 58-year-old, who shares a home with her ex-husband and two daughters, Prince Andrew has a dog named Jack which often causes confusion in the York household. 

She explained: ‘Andrew’s brilliant you see because he says “Jaaaack get off that chair” so son-in-law Jack jumps up saying “oh God what have I done now?”‘

The Duchess said that although she is yet to find an outfit, wedding plans are thoroughly underway.   

The ex-wife of Prince Andrew appeared in high spirits following her interview on Friday waving to well wishers as she left the BBC Broadcasting House 

The couple, who announced their engagement in January, will tie the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on October 12

‘Eugenie is very controlled she’s so sorted’ she said ‘She knows exactly what she wants. They’re very contemporary they’re very inclusive. 

‘They’re all about love and they want this wedding to be about that, to include everybody to really absorb the love they have for each other with everybody else.’ 

Buckingham Palace announced that 1,200 people will be welcomed into the grounds to witness the arrival of the congregation and the royal family, listen to a live broadcast of the service, and see the newlyweds depart after exchanging vows at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on October 12th.

Members of the public can visit publicevents.royal.uk to apply for the chance to be in the grounds.

The happy couple are also inviting representatives of the charities they support, and members of the local community in Windsor, as well as children from the local schools Princess Eugenie attended.
