Nene Leakes from The Real Housewives of Atlanta is at odds with Kandi Burruss. The two have never been the closest of friends but have respected each other during their time on the show. Things came crashing down during season 12 when Leakes felt Burruss was sticking up for Kenya Moore even when she was at fault.
At the same time their feud was raging on, Leakes released a diss track making her way into the music world. Burruss, a Grammy-award winner, was asked for her thoughts on the song and her review was less than stellar.
What did Kandi Burruss think of Nene Leakes’ new song?
Leakes is expanding her horizons with a new song titled “Come and Get This Hunni.” The diss track has a sick beat that makes you want to want to get up and dance. However, not everyone is loving Leakes’ foray in music and Burruss tried not to be shady but ended up being extra shady.
While making an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked what Burruss and Marlo Hampton thought about Leakes’ song.
“I love the song,” Hampton replied as Burruss could be seen laughing.
“It was cool, it was nice,” Burruss said, not convincing Cohen she was being truthful with her opinion.
“What? It’s a nice song,” Burruss added when she was received with silence.
Hampton asked Burruss to pretend she was Moore so she could rave about the track as they are seemingly close.
“Honestly, I don’t try to diss people’s music and their creativity,” Burruss said while laughing. “To be honest with you, to me it’s more like a novelty record, kind of like a Weird Al Yankovic type of thing.”
Cohen couldn’t help but laugh at the comparisons.
“You know? Like when Weird Al put out those songs, it’d be like corny and funny,” she added.
Is Kandi Burruss only using Nene Leakes for attention?
Burruss is confused as to why Leakes is upset at her. The RHOA star pointed out that she was the only one that accepted to film with the OG of Atlanta at the beginning of season 12. Burruss feels that maybe she wanted to create drama to have a storyline on the show.
“I feel like she was starting it,” Burruss told Entertainment Tonight. “Just gave people this sense of… just trying to get people [to think] I was coming for her during this season, when actually, I’m the only one who wanted to film with her at the beginning of the season. Like, I was the one who was trying to get everyone back on the same page with her. So, I don’t know how she changed that into trying to make people believe that I have something against her. I honestly feel like it’s just because I’m friends with Kenya [Moore].”
After a feud on social media, Leakes says that Burruss is only using her name to get attention as that what will make it go viral.
“That’s why any of them do what they do, because they feel like, with NeNe’s name, it’s a rocket,” Leakes told Entertainment Tonight. “That means that I am that girl, you know that, right? I’m that girl.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 12 reunion will air in the coming days on Bravo.
