Pizza Hut has released its biggest ever pizza slice today – and film buffs may even recognise it from the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.

The pizza chain revealed the oversized taste sensation is an XXL (16 inches) sized pizza that comes as six gigantic slices instead of the standard 12.

It is available with Margherita and Pepperoni toppings OR ‘create your own’ with any two toppings from today.

The offer is available at selected Pizza Hut stores for dine in, delivery at £15.99 and collection for £13.99.

And in-keeping with the theme of new film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, the chain has released specially-designed pizza boxes for orders of the pie.

The special boxes feature artwork of various Ninja Turtle character illustrations to really bring to life the partnership.

Hazell White, Head of Brand and Innovation at Pizza Hut said: ‘We’ve always had a close link to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and are so excited to be launching The Big New Yorker, the same pizza in the movie, in our restaurants at a budget-busting £13.99!’

It comes after Pizza Hut previously took a hefty slice of the Guinness Records pie after cooking up what has officially been labelled the world’s biggest ever pizza.

The pizza chain enlisted a team of workers to put together the giant meal, which required a staggering 13,653 pounds of dough, 4,948 pounds of sweet marinara sauce, more than 8,800 pounds of cheese and 630,496 regular and cupped pepperoni.

Ultimately, the final pie measured in at a whopping 13,990 square feet – earning it the title of the world’s biggest pizza.

In order to construct it, a team spread individual squares of pizza dough across an enormous floorspace at the Los Angeles Convention Center, before painstakingly topping them with the marinara sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.

And – having presumably failed to find an oven big enough to accommodate the sprawling spread of dough and cheese – the company then heated the pie from above in sections, moving the baking device across the pizza in order to ensure each bit was properly heated.

The mammoth pie produced around 68,000 slices of pizza when it was completed. David Graves, president of Pizza Hut, revealed. The dish was created in honour of the chain bringing back popular 90s dish, The Big New Yorker.

The New York-style pizza is set to return to menus on February 1, having disappeared from Pizza Hut’s list of staple dishes years ago.

According to the chain, the pizza features ‘six foldable slices’ that are designed to be eaten like a classic $1 slice you would typically find in a New York pizzeria.

Construction on Pizza Hut’s enormous record-breaking pie began on Wednesday – however the chain had a painstakingly long two-day wait before it received the official thumbs-up from the Guinness team, who confirmed that they had succeeded.
