OMG, You Won’t Believe How Many People Fell On ‘World Of Dance’ Last Night

In last night’s episode of World of Dance, the Qualifiers round came to an end, packed with as much talent and energy as ever. Although the performances were undeniably impressive overall, there was a common theme to the night: falls. Three dancers in three separate performances ended up falling in the middle of their routine, which is more than fans have ever seen in a single episode.

Of course, it’s totally understandable that dancers get nervous when performing in front of major celebrities like Jennifer Lopez on the World of Dance stage. (I mean, who wouldn’t stumble a bit when in the presence of a real-life goddess?) So while these falling bloopers might not be these dancers’ proudest moments, they always find a way to pick themselves back and keep going on stage. And hopefully, they find a way to laugh about it later, too. After all, that’s, um, what the majority of World of Dance viewers are already doing…

ICYMI, here are some of the most jaw-dropping falls from last night:

Battle Droids

These teenage B-Boys from Belgium got off to a rough start when their first lift (a “thread,” according to Derek) got caught and ended with a fall.

Still, the team pulled off a ton of lifts, flips, and hands-free headspins. While their performance wowed the World of Dance judges overall, that first little flub didn’t go unnoticed. “There was one move at the beginning, we didn’t really quite get it,” Derek Hough said. “I know that feeling when you nail it in rehearsal every time, and then, you get out there on the night— and something goes wrong. I know that feeling.” J.Lo was quick to come to the boys’ rescue, saying “It happens.”

Ne-Yo, too, applauded the Battle Droids for not letting that first mistake affect the rest of their routine. “The true sign of a professional is no matter what happens, the show must go on,” he said. “You had a little slip-up in the beginning; you kept going like it didn’t even happen. That’s true professionalism.” And the team’s professionalism turned out to be enough to get them to the next round.

Style and Grace

All-female Canadian hip-hop group Style and Grace also had a member fall almost immediately after they started their performance to Ciara’s “Goodies.”

“You had a little mishap in the beginning, but you kept going. You fall, you get up like it never happened. That’s what I’m talking about,” Ne-Yo said.

J.Lo empathized with the dancer, adding,”That exact thing happened to me on the American Music Awards—fell right on my ass. Got right back up though.”

Derek noted he felt they were nervous throughout the performance (which could have been what caused the fall), saying it made the routine a bit “shaky.” His score of 83 could have potentially taken the team out of the competition, but fortunately, they scored high enough overall to get the average 85 needed to move on to the Duels.

DD Flection

While some dancers’ falls are accidental, others are so perfectly executed, they look accidental. That’s a hard balance to strike, but this contemporary duo from Thailand, who happen to already be WoD champions from their own country, did it.

The judges said the fall made their hearts drop (in a good way) and agreed that the duo had a very strong connection. J.Lo even called them “the perfect partners” and said they made an extremely difficult routine look easy. She gave them an exceptionally high score of 95, which helped the dancers earned an average score of 92, allowing them to move on to the Duels.

Okay, so you NEED to see their full routine:
