DEAR DEIDRE: MY husband told our kids they can have whatever they want as long as I am nice to him.
He doesn’t hit me but he has always abused me emotionally, mentally and financially. I am 35, he is 39 and we have a 16-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter.
They have recently been asking me if their father wants me to give him sex in return for him paying for their school outings. He says there is no such thing as rape in marriage and, if he wants it, he can take it. He gives me no money and has isolated me from family. He accuses me of cheating and tells me I am worthless.
DEIDRE SAYS: Please get yourself and your children away from this abusive man.
Sex without consent has been rape within marriage for the last 25 years and letting your children’s lives be ruled by your husband’s bullying will damage them.
