Thrifty mother transforms her dated kitchen by spending just £60 on B&Q paint and a stick-on worktop to create a bright and modern new look

A mother has astounded interior fans by giving her kitchen a complete makeover with just £60.
Kaylee Thomas, from Wales, took to British Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group to share her success story, quickly racking up over 3,000 likes and comments.
The crafty mum revealed that she had used just three purchases to transform the room – paint for the cupboards, self-adhesive plastic sheets ‘fablon’ and £2 silver paint for the handles.

The mother was keen to give her oak cabinets and faux marble counters a makeover, and managed to do just that on a shoestring budget.
Using a white wood paint from the budget homeware store, the cupboards were given a new lease of life.
Meanwhile her handles looked convincingly new – despite only having been painted with a silver hue.
And updating the marble to a faux wood look, the mother ‘s kitchen transformation was complete.

Posting the before and after pictures to Facebook, Kaylee wrote: ‘Thanks to the people who posted about the fablon and painting cupboards. Just done my kitchen for around £60. Floor next.
‘Everything is from B&Q – White wood effect fablon, Sandtex exterior paint in cloudy day. Painters touch in silver for the handles.’
Praising the transformation, one member wrote: ‘This looks awesome, well done’.
Another added: ‘That looks 1 million per cent better. Loads brighter and fresher!’
