Misha Nonoo reveals she’s ‘honoured’ BFF Meghan Markle wore a £66 tank top from her label for a royal tour engagement in South Africa

Designer Misha Nonoo said she was ‘honoured’ her close friend the Duchess of Sussex chose to wear one of her designs on the royal tour. 

Misha, who recently married Mikey Hess in a star-studded ceremony in Rome, took to Instagram to share her delight at seeing Meghan, 38, in the £66 Boyfriend Tank at an engagement in Cape Town last Thursday. 

The Duchess of Sussex wore the simple black top with a £145 striped shirt from J. Crew for a breakfast meeting with female leaders.

Sharing a photo from the outing, Misha Nonoo wrote that she was ‘honoured’ the royal had showed her support, pictured. The women have been friends for several years

The website describes the top as ‘both beauty and brawn’ and ‘anything but basic’. It adds that it is ‘worktime and downtime appropriate’.

Sharing a photo of Meghan in the piece, Nonoo wrote: ‘We are honored HRH the Duchess of Sussex chose to wear our Boyfriend Tank while discussing inequality and women’s rights on royal tour in South Africa. 

‘We are so grateful to be included in conversations about the empowerment of women – this is a core value that runs deep through each member of our staff and in all of our customers.’

The Duchess invited the leaders to join her in Cape Town, to better understand the roles they play – and have played – for their country and their communities.

Writing about the engagement on Instagram, she posted: ‘On Thursday we convened a meeting of minds – a group of women ranging from a legendary anti-apartheid activist, female parliamentarians, professors, educators and policy makers to discuss the rights of women in South Africa. 

‘In the lead up to this tour it weighed heavily on my heart to see the countless violations against women, and I wanted to spend my time on the ground learning about the situation at hand.’

The Duchess of Sussex has worn Nonoo’s designs on a number of previous occasions, including for her first ever official public outing with Prince Harry in 2017.

Most recently the Duchess showed her support for her friend by jetting to Rome for her wedding to oil heir Hess.

Meghan and Harry left son Archie at home as they flew in for a whirlwind visit to the Italian capital for the nuptials earlier this month. 

The couple are currently on a 10-day royal tour of Africa which ends on Thursday.
