For over two decades, Jennifer Lopez has been wowing audiences with her amazing voice and her amazingly sexy body. Lopez is now 49 years old, but you might mistake her for someone in their early 30s. How does she do it? Does she avoid meat, or maybe she avoids carbs? We have all the details on J. Lo’s diet just for you.
Is Jennifer Lopez vegan?
In 2014, Lopez had an extra eight to ten pounds to shed. To achieve her goal, Lopez turned to exercise physiologist Marco Borges. He recommended a 22-day vegan diet to jumpstart weight loss. She stuck to the plan, and the results were fantastic. She lost ten pounds and went from a size 4 to a size 2.
“I enjoy eating this way,” Lopez said. “I never did and I didn’t know how good you can feel when you put healthy stuff in your body.”
After 22 days, Lopez started to introduce lean proteins, such as fish back into her diet. However, she tried to focus on eating nutrient-dense foods with less red meat.
How does Jennifer Lopez eat in 2019?
This year, Jennifer Lopez is no longer eating a strict vegan diet. She does, however, eat a very healthy, well-rounded diet. According to Cooking Light, an average day for Lopez looks something like this:
Breakfast: Protein shake with berries and Greek yogurt, or oatmeal with berries
Lunch: Kale salad with pumpkin seeds, or salmon salad with zucchini
Snacks: Handful of nuts, or fresh fruits and vegetables
Dinner: Lean protein with veggies, and a complex carb like brown rice or sweet potatoes
Everyone can agree that Lopez’s current diet appears to have plenty of nutrients, while limiting junk. It’s no wonder that her skin glows and the tiny outfits she wears onstage look great.
Does Jennifer Lopez eat no-carb?
Overall, Lopez eats a pretty standard healthy diet, but there are times when she wants to kick it up a notch. At the beginning of 2019, Lopez and her fiance, Alex Rodriguez, went on a 10-day no-carb, and no-sugar diet. The diet was supposed to “reset” her body and clear out the sugar cravings. Lopez explained to Today, “First and second day is when you realize you’re addicted to sugar. It’s like a drug… Now when I go back to eating fruit in 10 days, it’s going to taste like an ice cream sundae.”
Who wouldn’t want that? To be able to eat healthy foods and enjoy it? Perfection. Since the 10 day challenge, Lopez reports that she no longer craves carbs as much as before, so she will likely eat less of them in her day-to-day diet.
Jennifer Lopez makes healthy eating a priority
No matter which diet she’s following, Lopez always makes sure to take care of her body. As reported by Fox News, Lopez said, “You’ve got to work out, you got to watch what you eat. It’s a job- you’ve got to buckle down.” And it works for her. Lopez always looks great, even after having twins in 2008. “I feel better when I’m in shape and taking care of myself,” she said. “If you want other people to love you, you have to take care of yourself first.”
That’s great advice from a woman that so many people look up to. Taking care of your body affects your mood and spirit, as well as your health and self image. No matter which diet you follow, eating foods high in nutrients, while avoiding sugar and junk food is always a good idea.
