There are few things I love preaching about more than sunscreen. I could talk about the importance of it for hours every day, specifically how we should all be making it a step in our self-care routines even if it’s cloudy outside because the UV rays are there even if the sun isn’t.
I wasn’t always this way, though — I used to avoid sunscreen even if I knew I was going to be in the sun because I hated the greasy feeling they left on my body and face after application. I spend much of my time trying to make my face less greasy, so, I reasoned, why would I want to add that into my routine? But, as I grew older and learned more about skincare, I eventually conceded and started to look for a sunscreen I didn’t hate wearing every day. It took some trial and error (as well as a very unfortunate incident with a tinted zinc oxide sunscreen that was not a match with my skin at all), but it all led to me discovering what I refer to as the holy grail of sunscreens: Supergoop! The Jet Set SPF Kit.
First things first: It’s a set of three Supergoop! sunscreens in one, and all of the bottles are travel-sized. This is one of the reasons that drew me to the kit. It was easy to tote around when I was on the go, and buying the set allowed me to try three different products for the price of one full-sized bottle of sunscreen. (Seriously, it’s only $28 for the entire set. Twenty-eight bucks for three products! That’s an amazing deal!)
Second things second: The actual products are each wonderful in their own way. None of them feel greasy upon application, but they leave my skin glowing with a gorgeous, reflective sheen that makes it look like I just got about 10 hydrating facials in a row.
The products included are the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen, which, as the name suggests, applies invisibly to the skin, even if you also apply moisturizer — and it sits beautifully under makeup. It has an SPF of 40, which is great for a normal day out in the sun, and is water and sweat-resistant for up to 40 minutes. Then, there’s the Defense Refresh, which is a sunscreen spray with an SPF of 40. You can mist this one on yourself throughout the day when you want to reapply your sunscreen — something you should be doing every few hours, or more if you’re being active — without worrying about messing up your makeup. Lastly, there’s Play, which has an SPF of 50 and is water and sweat-resistant for up to 80 minutes. This one is best for use if you’re being especially active outside, and need more protection from the sun.
The kit allows you to get all of the products at once so you can swap them out depending on what you’re doing throughout the day — and having the Defense Refresh in your arsenal will ensure that you’re never without sunscreen reapplication in the future.
Really, having any sunscreen at your disposal that doesn’t feel like a chore to put on is invaluable to maintaining your skin and overall health.
