Dami, 26, saved up just over £27,000 for a deposit on a two-bed house with a stunning lake view in Dartford, Kent.
But on the day she was meant to formalise the sale, she was told the original £1,000 quoted by her solicitor to cover her legal fees wouldn’t be enough.
Instead, Dami was told she needed another £1,500 on top of this – bringing the total cost to £2,500 – or risk losing the home she’d fallen in love with.
She ended up switching solicitor at the eleventh hour, which saved her £1,000 after paying £700 to leave her current firm and £800 to her new lawyers.
It meant having to delay her exchange by ten days while the new solicitors took on the work, but she finally moved in last month.
