A night of 1990s nostalgia will invade North America next summer.
Beloved “Hold My Hand” group Hootie & The Blowfish will join forces for the “Group Therapy” tour next year, the band’s first summer tour in a decade.
“One Week” favorite Barenaked Ladies will join the tour as an opening act, a news release said, with performances kicking off May 10 in Virginia Beach and running through Sept. 13 in South Carolina.
Tickets for the “Group Therapy Tour” go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. to the general public via Ticketmaster and Live Nation, with an pre-sale for Citi card members and Hootie fan club members running from Monday at 10 a.m. through Tuesday at 10 p.m. at citiprivatepass.com.
An acoustic rock four-piece, Hootie & The Blowfish earned major radio and touring success in the 1990s and 2000s with staple tracks such as “Let Her Cry,” “Only Wanna Be With You,” “Time” and “Old Man & Me.” The group won two Grammy Awards in 1996 behind the success of “Cracked Rear View,” one of the best-selling albums of the 1990s.
The South Carolina group announced a hiatus in 2007, reuniting annually for charity performances. Hootie & The Blowfish last released a studio album, “Looking for Lucky,” in 2005, but plan to debut new material next year.
