The Met Opera Sunday brunch is back for the holidays, which means bottomless bellinis while you listen to live opera at The Grand Tier Restaurant, 30 Lincoln Center Plaza, showcasing rising opera stars from the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.
The $45 two-course prix fixe menu includes brioche French toast, wild mushroom risotto with porcini, Taleggio and truffle butter, a Benedict royale and classic smoked salmon with accompaniments. A portion of sales supports the Lindemann program. Two seatings for two performances, at 12:15 and 2 pm, run until December 30.
Celebrity chef Vic Rallo is launching Barca, a Mediterranean-style seafood restaurant, beside his popular eatery, Surf.
Rollo’s partner in Barca is Dave Pasternack, who owns Esca in Manhattan. Barca, which means “boat” in Italian, will open at 44 Navy Pier Court this week.
Barca, designed by Rallo, is a 4500-square-foot, bi-level space, with 100 seats inside and 40 seats outside, and views of the harbor and the Verrazzano bridge.
Amalfi Coast restaurant La Conca del Sogno will launch a one-month “residency” at Chefs Club NY, at 275 Mulberry Street, from Monday to January 1.
The restaurant, open for 60 years in the fishing village of Nerano Bay, will offer signature housemade pastas, Italian coastal wines selected by Chef’s Club wine director Keri Levens and cocktails from bar manager Anthony Merlino.
The Venezuelan fast-casual eatery Areppas, which has a flagship location in Midtown East and three food carts, will open a second outpost north of Gramercy Park at 115 East 23rd St. The 2,240-square-foot space, with 40 seats, is slated to open next spring, says owner Celestino Diaz. Areppas donates a meal to a child in need in Latin America with every meal purchased.
