A lot can change in a quarter of a century as one car company has proven with its latest advert.

Vauxhall has recreated its iconic 1993 Corsa campaign which starred Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista.

Now, in 2018, the brand has a whole new set of icons redefining what it means to be a ‘model’ with daughter of Oasis front man Anais Gallagher taking centre stage.  

The original ad, filmed 25 years ago, saw the hot new talent introduce the Vauxhall Corsa to the nation with the ladies battling the new ‘supermodel’ for the centre of attention.

In comparison, the new film aims makes a stand against the model archetype.

The key figures in the advert include Anais, who has already made a name for herself in the modelling industry age 18 as well becoming a passionate animal rights campaigner.

She is joined by body positive influence Grace Victory and surfing mogul Kylie Griffiths.

Also in the ranks is Harnaam Kaur – otherwise known as The Bearded Dame, who has made a name for herself ‘redefining’ beauty.

Anais explains that they were keen to showcase what women are capable off camera.

She said: ‘We are a generation that have the tools to make a real difference for the things that we feel passionate about – for me it’s animal conservation and the environment. 

‘It’s really important for us to do as much as we can to help the world, even if it’s on a small scale.’   

Meanwhile model Harnaam who experienced bullying as a young girl, commented: ‘There isn’t one way to be beautiful, there isn’t one way to be a woman. Don’t hold back, don’t dim your light.’

‘The original film with the models was great back then but we’re now in different world where representation really matters.’ added Grace.


Daughter of Noel Gallagher, Anais has made herself a name in the modelling industry at the tender age of 18

She is keen for women to be celebrated for what they do behind the camera, in her case being an activist for animal rights 

Demonstrating her own photography skills and adding her introspective experience to the piece – Anais captured her own on set imagery using a VX1000, Arri Flex 16mm and Instax, paying homage to the 1990s.

The film also contains several nods back to the original, portrayed through the aesthetics and framing of the opening and closing scenes and features an original 1993 Vauxhall Corsa alongside the latest generation GSi model.
