Eerie photos show coffins floating through funeral parlour after downpours

Eerie photographs show coffins floating through a funeral parlour in floodwater after heavy downpours .

The caskets were swept from their stands at the business in Fishlake, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire today.

The new photos of the stricken village capture the workshop in the funeral parlour submerged in water with member of the rescue team  inside the shop.

New drone footage, given exclusively to Mirror Online, captures the village completely submerged underwater after days of severe flooding.

The haunting clip shows dirty water cover acres of rural land.

Around 700 people in the village were told to leave their homes over the weekend after seven separate "threat to life" flood warnings were issued for the River Don.

But business owners and villagers have sought refuge after multiple buildings became uninhabitable today.

Mark Sengelow, 47, woke up on Saturday morning to find his house under 2ft of dirty water.

"It stinks, the water is dirty and there's debris and sewage in it.

"It was heartbreaking to see the house ruined like that," the father-of-three said.

Mark, who is a builder, has been forced to seek refuge at a friend's house on higher ground with his partner and kids.

He added: "We had a brand new carpet laid and I kitted out the double garage as a cinema room for the kids. That's all gone.

"We are staying a friend's house on a higher level for now but we don't know what we're going to do next.

"We're safe and that's the main thing, but it will be a while before we can get back into the house."

And a couple's joy at becoming new parents was shattered just two days later when their newly renovated home was flooded in the village .

Doncaster Council said, though, it will not be providing "on-the-ground support" in Fishlake as the advice remains for residents to evacuate.

Chief executive Damian Allen said: "We are concerned over reports that some residents remain in the area.

"South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews are on hand to evacuate any Fishlake residents who may be stuck in their homes, and we would urge everybody to take advantage of this.

"The council are unable to offer on-the-ground support to residents who are in severe flood warning areas, based on advice from the Environment Agency."
