Just as confused: Followers were quick to confess they don’t understand the system either

Writing on Twitter, she revealed one of her New Year resolutions  is to have a better grasp on how things work across the pond.

In the dark: Fans reassured Chrissy that she is far from the only one in the dark. Others offered playful analogies for how Chrissy might think about UK politics in light of Brexit

One tweeted: ‘Don’t bother Chrissy. Just don’t. *weeps with tiredness at the absolute state of it all*’

Another added: ‘With the current state of things here in the UK, Chrissy, I must sadly say that you’re not alone. Nobody knows what’s going on.’

Others including TV presenter Sue Perkins admitted many Britons were in the dark about what was happening.

‘Don’t worry, our own politicians don’t seem to understand how they work either,’ one shared.

A second joked: ‘If you manage to work it out you could probably run for Prime Minister.’

Quirks: Writer Lexi Rose encouraged Chrissy to look into the ceremonial mace, pictured, which made headlines on Monday when it was grabbed by a Labour MP in protest over Brexit

Offering an explanation, one follower wrote: ‘Imagine a huge disaster zone with a country about to set itself back decades and you should be about there…..’

Another posted: ‘Imagine a bus halfway through running off a cliff while half the staff try to convince you this is for the good of the bus and shout down any attempts by the other half to accept help from people with winches outside to pull the bus back. That’s been my gen impression since 2016.’

Others made light of the situation by delving into some of the quirks of Parliament.

Writer Lexi Rose replied: ‘Have a read about how you can grab the mace (a big gold stick) mid-debate and really upset everyone by doing so. It’s so British, it hurts.’

Gripped: Chrissy appeared hooked by the etiquette surrounding the ceremonial mace – and thanked fans for their light-hearted versions of how the British political system works

The post made reference to the relic which represents the Queen’s authority within Parliament. Parliament cannot lawfully meet without the Mace, representing the monarch’s authority, being present in the chambers.

It made headlines this week when Lloyd Russell-Moyle picked up the mace and attempted to carry it out of the chamber at a furious protest over the Brexit vote being deferred. He was stopped by two female Serjeant at Arms staff.

The rules gripped Chrissy, who tweeted: ‘The what’s the point of being able to take the giant gold thing if the lady with the sword can just stop you and make you put it back?’

After followers attempted to explain, the celebrity added: ‘This is harder to understand than super smash bros!!! LOL LOL THATS CALLED A CALLBACK IN SHOWBIZ GUYS lol lol lol.’
