Care assistant spends £15,000 covering whole body in tattoos in tribute to dad

A woman spent £15,000 covering 90% of her body in tattoos .

Nadine Anderson, a care assistant from Dundee, said her dad inspired her to get them.

As the 23-year-old’s father has always had body art up his arms, she decided to follow his lead by getting inked.

Her first tatt was a tree of life design, which is visible on her forearm.

Nadine said: “I got into tattoos growing up always with the aim of getting them and then when I was eighteen, I went for it.

"I was the classic daddy's girl growing up and seeing my dad covered in that I always knew I wanted to be like him and have all that kind of stuff.”

She added: "As I grew up my interest in tattoos piqued more and more through the years until I was eventually, I hit eighteen and legally allowed to get a tattoo.

"I discussed my first tattoo with my dad, and he supported my decision he was like, 'as long as you're sure you want to do it' so I went and booked my first tattoo with my dad."

It didn’t take long for her get hooked on tattoos.

And in five years, Nadine’s got inked so many times she’s lost track of her designs.

She’s also undertaken body modification procedures – including tongue-splitting surgery, scarification on her head and quirky piercings.

One of Nadine’s stand-out features is her blackout tattoos.

These designs look extremely painful – as they require large blocks of the skin to be coloured in with ink.

UK laws prevent tattooists from carrying out this procedure, which is why Nadine had to head to Germany to get them done.

In total, the care worker predicts she’s spent thousands on all the tatts.

She said: "I've spent about £15,000. I've lost count how many (tattoos) there are.

"I don't count them individually as they make one whole bodysuit.

“I would say 90% of my body is covered. It's just my feet I need to tattoo now.”

The body modification fan also plans to get more facial inkings in the future – but she doesn’t want to over-do it.

She said: "I think I would add a little bit more under my right eye because there's spaces I want to fill up eventually, but that's all I would probably add is just a little tiny piece on it because I think I've got quite a lot on it now.

"You can still tell what my features are like naturally, and I wouldn't want to take away from that because I think that's the beauty of that tattoo."

Even though some question Nadine, she refuses to let negative opinions hold her back.

She explained: "Some (friends and family) think I'm crazy, but I've always spoke about being covered.

"At the end of the day, I'm still Nadine and they still love me. If anything, I'm just more me.”

The tattoo fan added: "I get people who are inquisitive and want to know my motivations, people who congratulate me on having the confidence to be me, and then people who instantly give the horrible looks and comments.

"It's kind of stereotypical thing that if they don't get it they'll want to put it down, or if it's not their cup of tea they won't want to look at your motivations for it.

"It doesn't faze me because when you go off on a journey that's purely about what you want to do there's always going to be someone not happy about it, and most of these people I've never met in my life so I really couldn't care less…

"It's never stopped anything for me. I personally think it only stops what you allow it to stop."
