The planet Venus, ruler of love and emotions, is currently in retrograde and spreading its influence far and wide causing some to want to explore past romances.
Celebrity astrologer Inbaal Honigman, from London, revealed to FEMAIL how the current shift in the planets may affect our current emotions and what to look out for.
‘When we talk about a planet going retrograde, we mean that it appears to be going backwards in the sky,’ explains Inbaal.
‘Of course, that is impossible, because all planets travel in orbit, always forwards. But from our perch here on Earth, sometimes planets appear to be going backwards.
‘In astrology, when a planet goes retrograde, it is said to be highlighting the shadow aspects of the characteristics and situations which it rules.
‘In Venus’s case, as it is the planet of love and the home, the retrograde will be the time that love is not so easy, or the home is unstable.’

Venus shifted into its new era earlier this week and will be in this state for the entirety of August before transitioning again.
Inbaal explains that during this time, many people will be feeling like they want to catch up with ex partners and potentially feel the urge to reconnect with previous feelings.
She said: ‘The retrograde time is when the past comes back to visit, so this summer is a time of old flames making a comeback.
‘If an ex reaches out, be cautious. Are they missing you, or is it just the retrograde? As much as possible, wait with those big love decisions until after it ends.
‘The retrograde isn’t a time to start anything new, but it’s certainly a good time to catch up with something you’ve abandoned.
‘If you tried intermittent fasting after Christmas but decided against it because of the long nights, then the retrograde is a lovely time to give things another go.’
Libra and Taurus
During this particular retrograde, those born under the signs of Libra and Taurus could be more affected than other members of the zodiac.
Because Libra, the scales, and Taurus, the bull, are both ruled by the planet Venus when it goes retrograde, which happens every 18 months or so, they can get caught heavily in the crossfire.
For Libras, who strive to attain balance and harmony in their worlds, revisiting past loves and relationships can cause extreme reactions.
Likewise, for proud Taureans, a reflective look at their younger years could bring up past emotions that they believed had been put to bed.
Inbaal explains, ‘If people are catching up with an ex, Libra and Taurus are moving in with their high school boyfriend.
‘Or if people are switching up their beauty routine, during this time Libra and Taurus are booking a surgical procedure.
‘Anything that happens during the Venus retrograde just happens so much more to the two Venus signs.’
Inbaal says this reflective period could also push these two signs towards favouring some styles from yesteryear.
She reveals: ‘This is the perfect opportunity for the signs to try the 70s trend revival either in fashion or the home – think a return to mint green bathroom suites!’
And watch out for Neptune too!
Neptune has been in retrograde since 30 June 2023 and will continue to 6 December 2023, which will challenge our subconscious and self-confidence in creative endeavours.
Neptune influences illusions, dreams, fantasies. It’s a planet of romantic behaviour, creativity and glamour.
However, its retrograde affects the ‘shadow’ of all those qualities; ‘delusion, lying and cheating.
During the Neptune retrograde, our intuition is strong, but we tend to dismiss what it tells us
The entire retrograde is in the sign of Pisces, which makes it even more focused on dreams and illusions.
